Somehow each year through all the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season Jason and I find time for each other. Our Christmas date.
We usually don’t buy each other gifts, We have only a handful of times over our 18 years together. I am happiest when it’s just the two of us spending time together out and about.
Kelsie kept our grandson, her nephew for a sleepover and off we went.
I love Christmas time. The lights, the reason for the season “Happy Birthday Jesus!”, family traditions, coffee dates and shopping!
We of course started off at the Red Onion Cafe in downtown Joplin for dinner. One of our favorite places. I had most of the shopping done, but I always save our grandson’s shopping for last. Jason and I enjoy doing that together. He is a big ol softie when it come to little Cameron and it’s a must he helps with buying his Christmas gifts. So a couple hours were definitely spent at the Toys R Us!
This year the weather was warm, high 60’s and the stores had their heaters cranked up. So we traded our coffee date for ice tea and met up with a couple friends, The Farmers for a quick visit. Miss Tammy always makes the best cookies and had a Christmas tin full for our family! ( Cameron’s Favorite are the snikerdoodles )
Then off to the Northpark Mall and Wal Mart to finish all the shopping up. We went home and unloaded the presents and went to one of the local casinos to cap off our night. We had a great night ( of course Jason may have been a little crabby after loosing at casino, lol ) lots of laughs, great conversation, hugs and holding hands all night.
Late that night after we got home I wrapped the gifts. I am definitely a traditional Christmas girl. I love the greens, red and golds. Old time Santa and sleds. I doubt that will ever change. And of course I have to listen to the old time traditional Christmas songs.
I sure am grateful for my husband and our Christmas dates… Can’t wait until next year ❤️
